Although teaching survival skills is our main concern, 0°_Latitud also offers other Amazon expeditions. Since we are a small operation (and want to remain as such), we are still developing these alternative travel packages. We are in the adventure business. That is why you will never see our guides herding tourist or carrying megaphones, besides, our groups never excede 10 people. However, adventure not necessarily means you have to undertake a full survival course which some times can be very demanding on the body and the mind. Although we try to have a specific plan for each of our trips, we have found that a little bit of field improvisation usually results in a better experience, specially due to te remote nature of the places we visit and the variety of situations encountered. We try to cover a variety of dicliplines and interests but we are sure some people will want different cutomized trips. Please feel free to send us any good idea or any special request. Wildlife photography and observation • [Boating - treking - camping] • 5 to 15 days
The biggest dissapointment of amazon travelers is to find out that jaguars and tapirs are not everywhere to see and photograph. Animals (specially big animals) requiere huge extensions of territory to survive and even locals only see them rarely. What you see in TV documentaries is the result of painstaking planning and organization on the part of the film makers to be in the right place at the right time. We have a special course on wildlife observation that is not offered enywhere else in the region. If you are a photographer or a biologist (any field), or simply have an interest in watching wildlife closely, this will be the trip for you. We start in Iquitos and travel down river to Tabatinga Brazil (8 hour speed boat ride) stoping to see Pink Dolphins at lakes adyacen to to the river bank. Next day we depart to a remote location (no human influence at all is our goal, usually a salt flat) to set up camp and an observation tower where we will spend the next few days waiting for animals to come to us). It may seem boring but the rewards are spectacular and your pictures will be proof of that. We can customize this trip to accomodate you and your group.

Strongly recommended for those who 'fishing' is a religious experience. In this course our guides and instructors will teach us their ancestral techniques on fishing. From pirhanas to pacú fishing, these folks will also show us how to use natural anesthethics to knock down smaller fish from creeks for emergency food. The incredible variety of fish and fishing techniques will leave you wanting to come back again and again to try them all. Professional fisherman will learn the beauty of such diversity through their own experience. Besides, the food is guaraneed to be superb after a long day's work. Our view of the jungle is always towards protection, therefore, we do not fish endangered species, no matter how tempting catching a 7 Ft. Pirarocú may be.

As diverse as wildlife, the cultural richness of this part of the world is astonishing. There are hundresd of tribal and ethnic groups around Tabatinga alone. Some of them even 'undiscovered' by westerners. Our cultural exchange trips are designed to show you the way these tribes live their lives. We will visit several settlements, stay at their homes, eat their food and listen to their stories at night. During the day we will accompany hunters and fisherman in their trecks, cook with them, and help with hunting and fishing.
